*Exactly* Like A Griswold Family Christmas. Sort Of.

My husband has a fascination with National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

Really.

We watched it with my family several years ago (I think it might have been the Christmas we were engaged) and he laughed and laughed and then laughed some more. Seriously. I have never seen anyone laugh so hard at a movie. Especially one that I'm pretty sure he'd seen before. And he continues to laugh every. single. year.

So this holiday season, the Very First Year The McCalls Put Up Christmas Lights Ever, he had the kids and I stand outside while he sang "Joy To The World" and flipped the ceremonial switch. Like the movie, Brad had several set-backs in his Lighting Extravaganza (some of the strands didn't work, then there weren't enough, and then he accidentally bought "warm white" as opposed to the "bright white" he had started with). Unlike the movie, the lights came on the very first time and there were no temper tantrums on the the front lawn. The only screaming came from Phoebe as she ran around in circles yelling, "MERRY CHRISTMAS! MERRY CHRISTMAS! MERRY CHRISTMAS!" at the top of her lungs.

I know the neighbors were pleased.

And I agree with Brad, it is the best Xmas movie!

My brother laughs hard at that movie every single year too. Also "A Christmas Story." I get a kick out of watching him laugh so hard!

That is so great! My husband is a die hard fan of that movie too. He laughs hysterically every time. I just don't get it. But oh well! The house looks great!
