Sweet, strong Madison Knebusch passed away yesterday morning at 16, having battled cancer for almost two years.
She will be so missed.
But we know that she is completely healed. Forever. She will not live a life of doctor visits and fear and scans and medication only to go through this again. Her life was an amazing testament of faith and courage and spunk.
But she leaves behind a community of mourners. Her parents, her sisters, her brothers, her best friend, and countless others. I think most of us who knew her are still in a state of shock and keep thinking that this was not the way it was supposed to be. We expect to see her bright, smiling face just coming around the corner or sitting in "her" chair at Huddles on Wednesday nights. But we find God's love made perfect in brokenness and heartache.

My heart breaks for this family. I am a mom to a 5 year old who is a cancer survivor. I know all too well the life of a child undergoing chemo and fighting to live. I thank God daily for allowing Jed to survive a horrible, aggressive muscle cancer. I am praying for this family. God bless them in his time of loss.
Sixteen. Oh, my. May the Lord wrap his loving arms around her family.
I saw this on Kristen's FB page. So sad but happy she is free of all that "junk".
no, I would say this is not the way it's supposed to be. I can't even imagine how changed her family's life will be. Thank God for Madison's complete healing.

This breaks my heart. Praying for peace for Shannon and her family.
Beautiful post Jordan.
Such an amazing person. Cancer did not make Madison who she was. Madison was beautiful, strong, faithful and wonderful long before cancer. There was an incredible presence about her even back when we first met 9 years ago. I am so honored to call her, along with her friend Cannon, my favorite students of all time! My heart mourns her passing. You wrote beautiful words of truth Jordan.
Please send our heartfelt sympathy to Madison's family. We know what it's like to lose a part of your heart forever when a child dies, but we don't know what it's like to watch them go. I can't imagine how hard that was.
My heart is breaking for all who knew and love her.
Pam
